IELTS Speaking Part 2: Chủ đề, Bài mẫu & Cách trả lời

ielts speaking part 2

IELTS Speaking Part 2 Sample Questions & Answers

Topic Sports

Question: Describe an outdoor sport you played for the first time. You should say:

– what you did
– where and when you did it
– how you felt about it later
– and say if you would recommend this activity to your friends.
Sample answer:
I remember the first time I played tennis. It was on a hot day in summer, and I was with my friends at the local park. We had seen people playing tennis before and thought it looked fun. So, we decided to give it a try.
At first, it was a bit confusing. We didn’t know the rules and kept hitting the ball in the wrong direction. But after a while, we started to get the hang of it. And by the end of the game, we were really enjoying ourselves.
I was a bit sore from all the running around, but it was a fun experience. If you enjoy outdoor sports and are looking for something new to try, I recommend giving tennis a go. It’s a great way to stay active and have fun at the same time!

Topic Accommodation

Question: Describe a time when you stayed in a hotel. You should say:
– where the hotel was located
– what type of room you stayed in
– how long you stayed there for
– and explain why you were staying in this hotel.
Sample answer:
I once had to stay in a hotel for work. It was during a business trip to London, and my company had booked me into a nice hotel near the city centre. I had my own room with a comfortable bed and an ensuite bathroom. The view from my window wasn’t anything special, but it was quiet and peaceful.
I only stayed in the hotel for one night, as I had to catch an early flight the following day. But it was a pleasant stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and comfortable.
If you’re ever in London on business, I recommend staying at this hotel. It’s a great place to relax after a long day of meetings!

Topic Animals

Question: Describe an animal that you are afraid of. You should say:
– what this animal is
– where you saw it
– how you felt when you saw it
– and explain why you are afraid of this animal.
Sample answer:
I’m terrified of snakes. I don’t know why, but they just give me the creeps! I remember seeing a snake for the first time when I was on holiday in Australia. We were hiking through the bush, and suddenly there it was – a huge snake sunning itself on a rock. It must have been at least two metres long!
I froze when I saw it. I couldn’t move or speak or anything. My heart was pounding so hard, I thought it was going to jump out of my chest. Finally, my friend managed to drag me away. But even now, just thinking about that snake makes me feel queasy!
I know snakes aren’t really dangerous, but I can’t help being afraid of them. Maybe one day I’ll be brave enough to hold one… but not anytime soon!’

Topic Shopping

Question: Describe a time when you went shopping and bought something special. You should say:
– what you bought
– where you bought it from
– how much it cost
– and explain why you thought it was special.
Sample answer:
I love going shopping, and I always get excited when I find something special. Recently, I found the perfect dress while I was out with my friends. We were walking around the mall, when suddenly I saw it in the window of a store – a beautiful white dress with delicate lace details. I knew I had to have it!
So, I went into the store and tried it on. It looked even better than I’d imagined! And best of all, it was on sale. So, I ended up getting it for a really great price.
I love wearing that dress. It’s so pretty and feminine, and it always makes me feel confident and beautiful. Whenever I wear it, I get compliments from my friends and strangers alike. It’s definitely one of my favourite items in my wardrobe!

Topic Education

Question: Describe a time when you received some education or training. You should say:
– what this education or training was for
– where you received it
– how long it lasted
– and explain why you needed or wanted this education or training.
Sample answer:
A few years ago, I decided to take a baking class. I’d always loved baking cakes and cookies, but I wanted to learn how to do it properly. So, I signed up for a six-week course at a local cooking school.
Every week, we would learn about different baking techniques and recipes. We would start each class by baking something together, and then we would have the rest of the time to practice on our own. By the end of the course, I felt like a real expert!
I loved that class. It was so much fun, and I learned so much. Now, whenever I have a party or get-together at my house, everyone always asks me to bake something. It’s become one of my specialties!

Topic Hobby

Question: Describe a hobby that you don’t think other people would find interesting. You should say:
– what this hobby is
– how you got interested in it
– how often you do it
– and explain why you think other people wouldn’t find it interesting.
Sample answer:
I’m really into taxidermy. I know, it sounds kind of weird! But I find it really fascinating.
I started collecting dead animals when I was a kid. My dad used to take me hunting, and I would always save the animals we killed. At first, I just wanted to keep them as souvenirs. But then I started doing some research, and I learned how to preserve them properly. Now, I have a whole collection of animals in my house – everything from deer to rabbits to birds.
I know a lot of people think taxidermy is kind of gross. But I think it’s really cool, and it’s something I’m really passionate about. Whenever I meet someone new and tell them about my hobby, they always look at me funny! But that doesn’t bother me. I’m happy doing what I love, even if other people don’t understand it.

Topic Transportation

Question: Describe a time when you had to use a form of transportation that you don’t normally use. You should say:
– what this form of transportation was
– where you were going
– how you felt about using it
– and explain why you don’t usually use this form of transportation.
Sample answer:
A few months ago, I had to take the bus to work. Normally, I drive my car or ride my bike. But on that particular day, my car was in the shop, and my bike had a flat tire. So, I had no other choice but to take the bus.
I wasn’t looking forward to it, because I hate taking public transport. It’s always so crowded and noisy, and it takes forever to get anywhere. But I had to get to work, so I didn’t have a choice.
In the end, it wasn’t as bad as I’d thought. The bus wasn’t too crowded, and I got to my stop in about the same amount of time it would have taken me to walk there. It was a bit of an adventure, and now I don’t mind taking the bus every once in a while. It’s not so bad after all!

Topic Film

Question: Describe a film that you saw but did not enjoy. You should say:
– what the film was about
– when you saw it
– who you went with
– and explain why you did not like it.
Sample answer:
The last movie I saw that I didn’t enjoy was “The Revenant.” It’s about a guy who gets mauled by a bear and then has to struggle to survive in the wilderness.
I went to see it with my boyfriend, and we were both really excited because we love survival movies. But this one was just too violent for me. There were scenes where the guy is getting attacked by the bear, and it was just too graphic for me. I had to cover my eyes for most of the movie!
In addition, the movie was really slow. Nothing much happened for the first hour, and I was just getting bored. I was really disappointed, because I had been looking forward to seeing it for months. But in the end, it wasn’t worth my time.

Topic Social media

Question: Describe a social media platform that you use frequently. You should say:
– what this social media platform is
– how often you use it
– what you use it for
– and explain why you like it.
Sample answer:
I’m really into Instagram. I try to post something new every day, and I love looking at other people’s photos too. It’s just a really fun way to stay connected with friends and family.
I originally started using Instagram just to keep up with my friends. But then I discovered all these amazing photographers, and I started following them too. Now, I use it more as a source of inspiration than anything else. Whenever I see a beautiful photo, it always makes me want to go out and take my own.
I also really like the community on Instagram. There are so many talented people out there, and it’s just really cool to be able to connect with them and see their work. It’s one of my favorite things about the platform. Overall, I think Instagram is great, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a creative outlet.

Topic Travelling

Question: Describe a time when you had to travel a long distance. You should say:
– where you were going
– how you travelled
– how you felt about the journey
– and explain why you had to travel a long distance.
Sample answer:
The longest journey I’ve ever taken was when I went from my hometown in Dong Nai to Binh Dinh. Dong Nai is in the south of Vietnam, and Binh Dinh is in the central region. It’s about a 12-hour drive, so it was quite a long trip!
I went with my family, and we rented a car for the journey. I have to say, it was pretty uncomfortable. We were all squished into this tiny car, and we had to take turns sitting in the middle because there was no leg room. And of course, there were always people honking their horns and driving too fast. So, it wasn’t the most enjoyable experience.
But it was worth it in the end, because Binh Dinh is such a beautiful place. The beaches there are just stunning, and I’m so glad we made the effort to go. It was definitely a trip that I’ll never forget.
