When this happened | As I am very into traveling, walking is also one of my cups of tea and I did a lot of it throughout my travels. However, there was a long walk that I would never forget for the rest of my life, and it was my trip to Dalat City in December 2022. |
Where you walked | It was a five-day trip, and we did a lot of walking to save money as transportation cost a lot during our travel. At first, I looked for a barbecue restaurant on Facebook and it received many good reviews, so I decided to have dinner there without a second thought. As usual, we would walk there to save money and enjoy the atmosphere there. We also went on Google Maps to see how far it was from our hotel to that restaurant and it was just about 2 kilometers. After that, we began walking to the restaurant and estimated that our walk would take approximately 15 to 20 minutes. However, there was one thing we did not take into account was that Dalat had many stiff roads and needed a lot of effort to walk. The sky was getting darker, and the street was deserted but we had to keep walking and walking. |
Who you were with | I was there with one of my closest friends. Although he was a very calm person, he nearly lost his temper because of how long that walk was. Moreover, it was about 6 p.m. so we were both hungry but still had to continue this endless trip. |
Explain how you felt about this long walk | In the end, we still reached the restaurant, however, the food wasn’t decent as we expected. It was at that time that I realized how it is important to have a deeper insight into the restaurant as well as how to get there. |
IELTS Speaking part 3
1. What outdoor activities do people like?
There is a variety of outdoor activities that people usually take part in depending on their age. Regarding teenagers, they love participating in energetic and sociable activities such as playing sports or going camping. By contrast, old people don’t usually enjoy hard physical activities, instead, they would love to have someone to sit and confide in, or even play chess with their friends.
2. What are the differences between the outdoor activities children did in the past and now?
To the best of my knowledge, children nowadays don’t exert themselves much in outdoor activities. One of the top reasons for this phenomenon is that the development of technology affects many forms of recreational facilities such as video games, which makes them more appealing to children. Hence, they spend more time on their computers and phones than doing outdoor activities. In terms of those activities in the past, as the Internet was not as developed as nowadays, children at that time enjoyed hanging out with each other to play some traditional games such as rope skipping, playing marbles, and so on. And these activities, on the other hand, keep children away from early interaction with the internet.
3. Do women have more leisure than men?
I would say no because some features of the culture and traditions of my country don’t allow women to have that much leisure which is inequality. Nowadays, either women or men have to go to work, however, after work, women are also responsible for unpaid jobs such as house chores and childcare. These tasks take up a large amount of time which makes it hard for women to have spare time to enjoy their leisure. On the other hand, most men don’t have to do housework, so they have a lot of free time to take up different leisure activities.
