I. IELTS SPEAKING FAMILY – BÀI MẪU PART 2
Describe something useful you learned from a member of your family. You should say:
+ What you learned.
+ How this became useful later in your life
+ Have you taught it to someone
And explain why it was important for you.
What you learned | Well, there is no denying that living with my family has helped me to complete myself every day. As a traditional Vietnamese family, one of the greatest joys of us is to have the whole family together at the dinner table. This is one of the reasons that cooking is now a piece of cake for me. |
How this became useful later in your life | To be honest, I had not been able to cook until my mother told me to learn it. If I remember justly, I have started to learn it with her since I was in ninth grade. In the beginning, I am quite hopeless when it comes to cooking because I was at a very young age. I did not even know how to use a knife properly. However, practice makes perfect. Now I can cook some basic nutritious dishes for a family meal such as vegetable soup, fried chicken wings with fish sauce or steamed egg. It was not until later that I realized that being able to cook by myself really benefits my health for life. Somehow, it’s not necessary for me to go outside to buy low-quality as well as processed food anymore. |
Have you taught it to someone? | Not long ago, I learnt how to cook a traditional Vietnamese specialty from a mother’s best friend, which is rice noodles with river crab. But frankly speaking, I haven’t taught it to anyone because everything has been rushing and hectic for me lately. At a later time, I hope to have a chance to cook this insanely delicious dish with my mother whenever the time is available for me to do it. |
And explain why it was important for you. | As I mentioned, cooking at home is always a good way to guarantee my health as I can control the kinds of nutrition my body absorbs every day. |
II. IELTS SPEAKING FAMILY – BÀI MẪU PART 3
1. Do you spend much time with your family?
After entering university, I’ve been living far away from my family for almost 4 years. I only get back home 2 or 3 times a year due to the geographical distances as well as my busy study schedule. However, we always try to keep in touch with one another. I try to call my mom at least twice a week and we update ourselves on what is going on in our lives. It was not by accident that I always ask my mom for advice before making big decisions.
2. Who are closest to you in your family?
I would like to say that I always have a special bond with my sister. Even though I am seven years older than her but franking to say, the year gap does not even bother us to share a lot of secrets that we have never told anyone. I am so happy that I can literally tell her anything. Moreover, my sister and I also have the same taste in music, so when we get together, we share a lot of smash hits and sing along.
3. Is family important in your country?
That’s a rather broad question! From my perspective, I can say that most Eastern families believe that family is above anything else. Even though they don’t live under the same roof, they still get along with one another and be the others’ moral support. No matter whether you’re living in an extended family or a nuclear family, when it comes to the importance of family, it will never be different in Southeast Asia.
