Bài mẫu IELTS Speaking – Chủ đề: Place

IELTS Speaking Part 2:

Part 2: Describe a cultural place that you would like to learn about (e.g., a library, museum, theatre).

You should say:

  • Where it is
  • How you know this place
  • What it is like
  • Explain how the place is related to culture
Where it is One cultural place in Vietnam that I would love to learn more about is Văn Miếu Quốc Tử Giám, roughly translated to the Temple of Literature, located in Hanoi. This ancient site is not only a historical landmark but also a symbol of Vietnam’s rich educational and cultural heritage.
How you know this place I first learned about the Temple of Literature during my studies in Vietnamese history. Back then, my teachers never failed to emphasise its importance as the first university in Vietnam, which impressed and intrigued me greatly. Additionally, I’ve seen it featured in various travel guides and documentaries showcasing the institution’s architectural beauty and cultural significance.
What it is like From what I can recall, the Temple of Literature is a stunning example of traditional Vietnamese architecture, characterised by its intricate designs and serene gardens. The complex is divided into several courtyards, each adorned with stone tablets inscribed with the names of successful graduates from the university. The atmosphere is peaceful and contemplative, making it an ideal place for reflection and learning. Perhaps due to the peaceful ambience, this temple was a place where scholars gathered to study Confucianism and other disciplines.
Explain how the place is related to culture. As this site embodies the values of education and respect for knowledge, which are some of the core values that I believe each and every Vietnamese knows by heart, it is undoubted that the Temple of Literature serves as a worthy icon of our proud culture, and therefore, a location I would be dying to dig deeper into one day.

IELTS Speaking Part 3:

1/ How does the Internet affect culture?

Well, from my perspective, the Internet really shapes culture by allowing people from all walks of life to connect and share their ideas, traditions, and values. This leads to what we call cultural hybridization, where different cultural elements come together and create something new. However, it also brings about the risk of cultural homogenization, where local traditions might get pushed aside by dominant global influences. All in all, I believe that the Internet acts as both a catalyst for cultural exchange and a potential threat to unique cultural identities, and as Internet users and preservers of culture, we have to constantly keep our eyes out for threats and opportunities.

2/ How is a culture formed?

That’s actually a really interesting and complex question. Well, I would say that culture is formed through a mix of historical, social, and environmental factors. It grows as communities pass down their beliefs, customs, and practices over time. Key aspects like language, religion, and traditions really play a part in shaping a culture. Plus, when different cultures interact, they can influence and change existing practices, making culture a dynamic and ever-evolving phenomenon. In a way, perhaps as we are speaking and interacting, we are actually contributing to the construction of culture in the modern day, in the sense that we are helping to define how social interactions should go, don’t you think? Anyway, this was a truly intriguing question.

3/ What kind of culture is popular among the young?

These days, pop culture is all the rage among young people. We’re seeing music, fashion, and social media trends that really take off. Genres like hip-hop and K-pop have caught on big time, thanks to their catchy beats and eye-catching visuals. Social media platforms allow youth to quickly jump on these cultural trends, sharing their experiences and preferences. This engagement really builds up a sense of community and shared identity among young people, and that, of course, includes me! I’m a big fan of BTS you see, and thanks to pop culture, I’ve managed to connect with unique friends from all walks of life.

4/ Are young people in Vietnam interested in cultural knowledge?

Absolutely! Many young people in Vietnam are really tuning in to cultural knowledge. They explore both traditional Vietnamese culture and global influences through various channels, like online resources, cultural festivals, and educational programs. This curiosity often springs from a desire to understand their heritage while also embracing modernity and the influences of globalization.

5/ How do you think culture will be presented in the future?

Looking ahead, I believe culture will be presented in increasingly immersive ways, largely thanks to technology. With tools like virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), people could have interactive experiences that let them really dive into cultural artifacts and practices. As globalisation continues, we might also see a more fusion-oriented approach, where different cultures blend seamlessly, creating new forms of artistic expression and cultural identity.
