The graph gives information about how much time was needed to build vehicles by four major car manufacturers at their U.S.-based factories.

Overall, the production duration in all firms witnessed a noticeable decline over the given time frame. Apart from the first period, the amount of time that Ford spent producing cars is the highest. Meanwhile, Toyota and Honda took up a similar number of hours to assemble cars, both of which happened to be the lowest.      

In 1998, car production at General Motors took the highest time among all categories, with 32 hours per vehicle. Ford ranked second, spending 28 hours on production. At the bottom of the list were Toyota and Honda, taking a comparable amount of time to produce cars, at around 22 hours.

Since then, General Motors saw a gradual decrease in car production time, reaching 22 hours per car in 2005, which was 10 hours shorter compared to 1998. Meanwhile, Ford also recorded a slightly lower rate at 21,5 hours per vehicle, after increasing by 3 hours during the first three years, and reducing by 9 hours for the following period. As for Toyota and Honda, both witnessed small fluctuations throughout 7 years, which resulted in the production rate of 20 hours per automobile, approximately 2 hours shorter than its initial speed.
