Đề bài: News is playing a vital role in our life today and people are getting much influenced by the news now. Some say that news has no connection with most people’s life and it is a waste of time for most of us to read newspapers and watch television news program. Do you agree or disagree? 

(Tin tức đang đóng một vai trò rất quan trọng trong cuộc sống hiện nay và mọi người đang ngày càng bị ảnh hưởng nhiều bởi tin tức. Một số người cho rằng các tin tức này không thực sự liên quan đến cuộc sống của hầu hết mọi người. SAMPLE

The news industry has been rapidly expanding as the role of information becomes increasingly important. Yet, there are those who believe that our daily lives are mostly disconnected from stories on the news, thus labeling the act of consuming said news a waste of time. I completely disagree with this viewpoint, as I believe the information made accessible by the media allows us to protect ourselves as well as to fight for causes we believe in. 

Firstly, being informed allows us to avoid threats to the well-beings of not only ourselves, but also those in our community. Updated knowledge is a powerful tool that directs us to take proper actions against crises we might not even realize existed otherwise. Let us take the 2019 coronavirus outbreak for example: news sources covering this disease provided their readers with information regarding the rate of infection and compared it against other known diseases (i.e., that of SARS in 2003) thereby offering a realistic grasp of the virus’s true potency. Other details such as symptoms or suggested precautionary actions allow readers to be conscious of their own health conditions and protect themselves against potential risks. Had such information failed to be delivered in a timely manner, there would have been far worse consequences.

In addition, news of someone’s inspirational acts can prompt those supportive of the same cause to take actions as well. With the Internet, the rate and range at which information spreads has exponentially increased, allowing the action of even a single person to have a strong impact. Consider Swedish teenage environmental activist Greta Thunberg as a prime evidence. In August 2018, her individual protest demanding the Swedish government to take stronger measures against climate change appeared on the news, a strategy of which ended with global marches that involved tens of thousands of students. Henceforth, it is evident that the news and medias play a crucial role in rallying those supporting a mutual goal to take actions. 

In conclusion, the news industry takes up a vital role in today’s life as it informs the general public effectively, thus allowing them to care for loved ones and the public, as well as to realizing actual initiatives for mutual ideals.
